GOST-R Certification

• GOST certification for certain kinds of product has been required in Russia since 1992 for consumer protection, safety and health reasons.
• Certification is necessary for imports into Russia, as well as for any subsequent inspections such as by the chamber of commerce or the safety authorities.
• The certification offices require accreditation to GOSSTANDARD.
• Further certification authorities such as the Sanepidemnadzor (ministry of health) or GGTN (pressure vessel approval) work directly together with GOST-R certification offices.
• Exporters to Russia are free to choose their certification authority.
• Since most of the CIS countries derive their regulations from the Russian GOST R norm, certification in these countries is also possible.
• Only products certified to GOST-R norm may carry the respective trademark.
